Monyo is well known in Forest School Group 5 for his clever and cheeky antics. He often drops twigs and fruit from high branches just to keep his caregivers on their toes. But Monyo's intelligence goes far beyond playful tricks. He has become so skilled at climbing and foraging that he has now been selected to move on to the pre-release island.
BACKGROUND STORY
Monyo was rescued from the village of Petuk Liti in Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan on November 14, 2019. A local villager claimed to have found 6-month-old Monyo stranded alone a week prior to being rescued. The rescue team handed him over to our Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. After completing his 3-month quarantine, Monyo is now a clever and mischievous orangutan at Forest School. Yet behind his playful antics, he is beautifully beginning to show strong signs of his wild nature emerging.
