Who could forget George, the beautiful baby orangutan rescued by the Samboja Lestari rescue team on 19 May, 2015. Our baby boy has since grown into an amazing young orangutan in the Forest School Baby Group.
Sum, our chef at Camp Lesik in the Kehje Sewen Forest, recently saw a female orangutan with a baby clinging to her belly not far from the camp. We believe it must have been none other than Yayang and her baby!
This was my first experience monitoring orangutans in the wild. It has long been my dream to do so, and I am grateful that it finally came true! I will cherish this memory forever.
Even with a tight schedule set for his official visit to East Kalimantan, German Ambassador to Indonesia Dr. Georg Witschel still found time to visit the BOS Foundation’s Samboja Lestari centre to learn about our Orangutan Reintroduction Program.
