Two months after one of our beautiful female orangutans, Doren, disappeared, the team at Nyaru Menteng were delighted to find her by Rungan river near Kanarakan Village,
It has been a while since our last meeting with Mayang though during the middle of last month, the post-release monitoring team picked up radio tracking signals from some of our other reintroduced orangutans including Agus, Lesan and Hamzah.
The success of the BOS Foundation’s orangutan reintroduction programs, which recommenced in February 2012, has been an amazing journey for all of us.
The monitoring team was happy to find Lesta and her son Lewis near Karangan Hara. They both looked very healthy and were discovered playing in the water, an activity that orangutans indulge in only when it is hot and they are thirsty.
