On 16 May this year, the BOS Foundation successfully conducted its 25th orangutan release in East Kalimantan.
The whiskered treeswift (Hemiprocne comata) is the smallest bird species in the Hemiprocnidae family. The feathers on this bird’s head, wings, and tail are bluish-black in colour, while its back and chest are shaded olive-brown.
Purun (Lepironia articulata) is a type of rush or grass of the Cyperaceae family that can be found in Indonesia’s peatlands, especially on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra.
As part of its community development program in East Kalimantan, the BOS Foundation, supported by BOS Switzerland, runs ‘Rumah Belajar’, a series of educational activities for children in nearby villages.
Yuyun is a 29-year-old female orangutan with Orangutan Respiratory Disease Syndrome (ORDS) who previously occupied an individual enclosure at the Samboja Lestari Rehabilitation Centre.
