In early October 2022, our Post-Release Monitoring (PRM) team translocated Hanung, who was released by the Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS) Foundation to the Kehje Sewen Forest in 2016.

In early October 2022, our Post-Release Monitoring (PRM) team translocated Hanung, who was released by the Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS) Foundation to the Kehje Sewen Forest in 2016.
Orangutans are semi-solitary primates who spend the majority of their lives alone. However, in some orangutan populations, the females will gather in groups from time to time, especially during the fruiting season, when forest food is abundant.
In the afternoon shade, I sat on a fallen tree trunk by the river near Camp Nles Mamse, looking for animals to photograph. I observed some monkeys at play and small, colourful birds darting around the bushes and trees.
A nationwide event known as a ‘lintas alam’ was held on 21 December 2022, to highlight the beautiful forest of Samboja Lestari in East Kalimantan.
One of the skills our Post-Release Monitoring (PRM) team members learn when working in the Kehje Sewen Forest is the ability to fire a tranquiliser gun.
