MOZA’S JOURNEY FROM KUWAIT TO MOTHERHOOD ON KAJA ISLAND
On September 13, 2015, a two-year-old female orangutan began a long journey back to Indonesia. The young orangutan was later named Moza.
The Aussie Assistance Program with support from BOS Germany has generously donated equipment to RHOI and the BOS Foundation in Samboja Lestari.
Handed over a few weeks ago, the equipment includes four tranquilliser rifles, two tranquilliser guns and two emergency kits. The equipment has been allocated equally to both RHOI in the Kehje Sewen Forest and Samboja Lestari.
The donation was handed over at an event where Vet Jati received the equipment on behalf of RHOI which was then handed over to Bani of Post Release Monitoring team in Camp Lesik, in the Kehje Sewen Forest.
After the handover, the team in Camp Lesik also received several training sessions from Vet Jati on safe use of the equipment and other medical equipment.
We are immensely grateful to the Aussie Assistance Program for the donation and BOS Germany for their support in ensuring this equipment arrived safely; it will be an invaluable asset towards monitoring activities in Kehje Sewen and Samboja Lestari.
