Topan is an energetic young orangutan who is never afraid to discover new things. As she grows stronger and more confident, she eagerly climbs higher, explores farther, and continues developing the natural abilities every wild orangutan needs to survive in the rainforest.
BACKGROUND STORY
Topan was rescued on October 13, 2017 and arrived at Nyaru Menteng in a very weak state after being found by local villagers near a river. She was severely dehydrated, malnourished, and dangerously underweight at only 1.5 kg. After spending a few days in our intensive care unit, Topan’s condition improved. Now, Topan has shown incredible growth in her social confidence, while she actively explores new areas across the island and rests high in the riverside canopies, her gentle personality remains unchanged.
