In Forest School Group 5, Monyo is widely known for his clever and cheeky antics, like dropping twigs and fruit from high branches just to keep his caregivers' on their toes. Nonetheless, Monyo is already so good at foraging and climbing that he's been chosen to advance to the pre-release island.
BACKGROUND STORY
Monyo was rescued from the village of Petuk Liti in Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan on November 14, 2019. A local villager claimed to have found 6-month-old Monyo stranded alone a week prior to being rescued. The rescue team handed him over to our Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. After completing his 3-month quarantine, Monyo is now a clever and mischievous orangutan at Forest School. Yet behind his playful antics, he is beautifully beginning to show strong signs of his wild nature emerging.
