Very sadly, young orphaned orangutans keep arriving. On February 1st, the BOS Foundation once again collaborated with the Central Kalimantan BKSDA to rescue another baby.
Recently two of our team members made the journey up into the hills in the northern area of our main transects in Batikap, to try and locate signals for some of our more elusive orangutans.
Just recently, Mona reappeared near Camp Lesik, in the Kehje Sewen Forest after a couple of months of us not recording her presence. Our last encounter with Mona was along a transect in the Lembu region, in July 2015.
Loss of habitat and hunting continue to pose a major threat to the survival of orangutans in Indonesia.
