AN ENCOUNTER WITH 5 GUARDIANS OF THE KEHJE SEWEN FOREST
It was such a joy to see 5 special orangutans; Mona, Berlian, Hamzah, Leke and Upi, during our patrol last week.

It was such a joy to see 5 special orangutans; Mona, Berlian, Hamzah, Leke and Upi, during our patrol last week.
While the world was busy planning their year-end celebrations the Post Release Monitoring (PRM) team in Kehje Sewen was diligently conducting their routine monitoring of released orangutans in the Kehje Sewen Forest, East Kalimantan.
Acul was one of the teenage male orangutans released on 18 March 2014. But agile Acul quickly disappeared far into the forest only a few days after his release, beyond the reach of our PRM Team.
Deep in the heart of our Borneo, surrounded by primary rainforest in every direction, sits our little research camp in the Batikap Forest. This is home to our post-release monitoring team – the self-styled ‘LaskarKahiu’, or ‘Orangutan Crew’.
After searching for a long time, through almost the entire forest, it was a relief for the Post Release Monitoring team from Camp Lesik to find Berlian, Upi, dan Hamzah thriving in their natural habitat.
