JOURNEY TO FREEDOM (2)

We are working hard to protect the Bornean orangutan and its habitat for future generations. Here are some of the ways we've helped develop a world where orangutans and nature thrive.
When the team arrived at the Totat Jalu release camp at noon on February 26, the four orangutans to be released - Dewi, Mentos, Compost and Jatihan - were in tip-top condition.
The BOS Foundation released five orangutans in the Bukit Batikap Conservation Forest, Central Kalimantan, this February.
After a 6-day expedition to locate previously-released orangutans, we finally managed to find one which we had not detected for quite some time: we found Juminten not far from Camp Lesik.
Unlike birds and other forest animals for orangutans living in the wild a nest is not permanent home. Instead it is a place in which to rest and where they are safe from terrestrial predators and protected from the elements.
In the near future, five more orangutans will be living in Bukit Batikap Conservation Forest. They are from the BOS Foundation Orangutan Reintroduction Center at Nyaru Menteng who will embark on their final journey to the forest on February 24, 2015.
