MY VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE AT NYARU MENTENG
Every morning at Nyaru Menteng starts in the same way, with the calls of ‘Ayo’ echoing around this small patch of forest in Central Kalimantan.
We are working hard to protect the Bornean orangutan and its habitat for future generations. Here are some of the ways we've helped develop a world where orangutans and nature thrive.

Every morning at Nyaru Menteng starts in the same way, with the calls of ‘Ayo’ echoing around this small patch of forest in Central Kalimantan.

Last August, Cilik, Cindy’s first son, ventured far away to the top of OPJ Hill, around 700 m ASL and left his mother and baby brother Riwut behind.

Almost all orangutan babies who arrive with us are orphaned. Many of these infants are all too often traumatized as they were brutally separated from their mothers during their illegal capture.

You can make a difference right now by showing your support for orangutan conservation and joining our new and exciting awareness initiative. It’s simple!

The medical teams at Nyaru Menteng are battling an unknown illness at the moment which as of today has claimed the lives of six of our beloved orangutans in the last three weeks.
