Towards the end of 2015, BOS Foundation released another four orangutans from the East Kalimantan Orangutan Reintroduction Program in Samboja Lestari to Kehje Sewen Forest, with the support of our partner organization, BOS Switzerland.

Many remember the extremely disturbing story of a female orangutan under our care called Pony, who was rescued from a brothel 14 years ago. We continue to receive regular inquires about Pony, who is still being cared for within our rehabilitation

YAYANG AND HER HEALTHY CHILDREN

It had been a while since we had observed Yayang and her family, so the PRM team in the northern part of the Kehje Sewen Forest dedicated several days to collect observational data on these three orangutans.

Last Sunday, we focused our efforts on nest-to-nest observations of Yayang and her new baby. Yayang’s second birth was very special as this newborn is our first wild born orangutan in the Kehje Sewen forest.

Apart from focusing on nest to nest observations of Yayang and her new baby, the Post Release Monitoring (PRM) team is responsible for conducting regular patrlos and monitoring for the other orangutans we have reintroduced into the Kehje Sewen Forest
