Since February 2012, the BOS Foundation has released 91 orangutans, i.e. 82 orangutans from Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Reintroduction Program and 9 orangutans from Samboja Lestari Orangutan Reintroduction Program. On October 12-14, the BOS Foundation...
In the near future, orangutan population in Kehje Sewen forest will increase. There are at least three rehabilitated orangutan from Orangutan Reintroduction Center at Samboja Lestari who will be reintroduced into the forest on October 13-14, 2013.
What we planned to be a two-day event was extended to the third day because of the weather. That’s how it goes when Mother Nature is the show director. However, as of today, eighteen orangutans are finally free in their rightful home.
Fog enveloped Nyaru Menteng after an overnight rain. Just like on the first day however, the release team still got up early today and began preparations for today’s release activities at 4.30 am sharp.
