We have released more than 500 orangutans, rescued hundreds more, and are currently rehabilitating 350 individual orangutans. This incredible achievement would not be possible without your generous support and donations. But we must also honor the Orangutan Warriors—the dedicated individuals whose tireless efforts on the ground have turned these rescues and releases into reality. There are hundreds of dedicated individuals working behind the scenes— nursery teams, surrogate mothers, animal welfare teams, medical staff, enclosure technicians, researchers, and monitoring teams.
Let’s take a closer look at our orangutan surrogate mothers - women who play an essential role in the rehabilitation process. With immense patience and compassion, they guide each orangutan through their journey, preparing them for the day they can return to their natural habitat in the wild. Their responsibilities at the rehabilitation center closely mirror the roles they carry at home: nurturing, supporting, and ensuring their “children” grow up healthy, strong, and ready to live independently.
Working in the field requires thorough preparation and essential tools, especially for the team’s personal safety. In carrying out their duties, they face various challenges such as extreme weather, difficult terrain, limited equipment, and the risk of injury or health problems. That’s why safety gear—including masks, gloves, field boots, and durable uniforms—is urgently needed.
We invite you to be part of this mission — Support our orangutan Warriors by helping meet their basic needs! Because without them, the mission to return orangutans to the wild would not be possible.
