A NEW LIFE IN THE BATIKAP FOREST
Our PRM team in the Bukit Batikap Protected Forest once again observed one of the orangutans frequently visiting Camp Totat Jalu—Inung and her offspring, Indie.
After searching for a long time, through almost the entire forest, it was a relief for the Post Release Monitoring team from Camp Lesik to find Berlian, Upi, dan Hamzah thriving in their natural habitat.
They looked healthy and strong. Berlian was spotted crossing the Lesik River while Upi was up in the trees. They both looked to be in good shape. Upi spent most of her time playing and eating in the trees only descending occasionally to the forest floor.
Meanwhile Hamzah was located busily eating the cambium of Ficus sp. and he had also built two nests.
The team is very happy and proud to see these three orangutans thriving in the forest having adapted brilliantly to their new forest home.
We will keep you updated with news of our beautiful orangutans in Kehje Sewen.
