In Forest School, Bumi is known as the lovely, yet restless, one. He really loves to play and actively hones his skills both in Forest School and on the playground. When it is time for the orangutans to prepare for their afternoon nap, Bumi prefers instead to explore in the forest some more and forage for fruits.
BACKGROUND STORY
Our team at Nyaru Menteng took in a baby boy orangutan on 18 June 2016, after he was rescued from Tumbang Koling village, by the Central Kalimantan BKSDA and Centre for Orangutan Protection (COP). Bumi was so incredibly weak that he could not even open his eyelids. We believe that he was violently separated from his mother shortly after his birth. We know that we can never replace his mother, but we will do everything possible to nurture him back to health and help him grow into a confident young orangutan.
