ARE ORANGUTANS EMPATHETIC?
It was a usual day at the Nyaru Menteng forest school, where young orangutans were learning from one another while their human surrogate mothers looked on from below.
August has been a busy month for the Foundation and particularly for our program in Central Kalimantan. Releasing orangutans is exciting enough in itself and we are delighted with our progress.
But this month has been even more wonderful with the return of Lone Doscher Nielsen to Nyaru Menteng to help support our team and the amazing work our program has been implementing under the management of Anton Nurcahyo, and also the filming projects we are working on with the BBC and the Danish Broadcasting Corporation.
This August we have successfully released another 8 semi-wild oranguans into Bukit Batikap and at the same time been delighted to host two film crews who are working with us on exciting projects which will be aired in 2013. These projects will continue for several months so for now we’ll wish them much luck and work with them together with our dedicated teams.
