In our most recent release, Miko, together with seven other orangutans, were brought to Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park, where they have a second chance at freedom, thanks to your support.
Miko together with Suci, Mony, Pickle, and four other orangutans were released on two trips to safe forests in Central Kalimantan. It was a journey that faced its fair share of unexpected challenges.
However, less than 24 hours after their departure from Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, the orangutans arrived in the remote Hiran watershed of Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park.
Miko’s transport cage was opened by Denny Kurniawan, the manager of Nyaru Menteng. Similarly to his friend Pickle, Miko was not pleased to see his human onlookers. He expressed his displeasure by rolling his cage before finally catching sight of Pickle.
