2007 – 2015: BOS FOUNDATION ORANGUTAN CONSERVATION
December 2007 marked an important milestone in orangutan conservation.
We are working hard to protect the Bornean orangutan and its habitat for future generations. Here are some of the ways we've helped develop a world where orangutans and nature thrive.
December 2007 marked an important milestone in orangutan conservation.
Thankfully the weather has improved over the past few weeks in East Kalimantan, and our team at the BOS Foundation Orangutan Reintroduction Center-Samboja Lestari was able to start reforestation of the area that was damaged by fire in September.
To support our orangutan reintrodution program in East Kalimantan, the BOS Foundation and PT RHOI built a new camp in the southern part of Kehje Sewen Forest to ensure we can properly monitor the newly reintroduced orangutans in this area.
As always, weather permitting in Borneo, we had to wait for the rain to stop before we set off on our trip to Lembu from Camp Lesik.
Our teams have been tirelessly battling fires within or around our two orangutan rehabilitation centers, Samboja Lestari and Nyaru Menteng, for almost two months.
