It had been a while since we had observed Yayang and her family, so the PRM team in the northern part of the Kehje Sewen Forest dedicated several days to collect observational data on these three orangutans.
The widespread fires across Kalimantan and Sumatra are devastating forests and peatlands and have resulted in not only human casualties, but also wildlife.
As always, weather permitting in Borneo, we had to wait for the rain to stop before we set off on our trip to Lembu from Camp Lesik.
Our teams have been tirelessly battling fires within or around our two orangutan rehabilitation centers, Samboja Lestari and Nyaru Menteng, for almost two months.
