Our Post Release Monitoring (PRM) team awoke to a sunny morning as they prepared to undertake a routine patrol in the forest.
The Samboja Lestari Rehabilitation Centre has a special sun bear sanctuary, which currently houses 73 sun bears in a complex that replicates their natural habitat and allows them to participate in a variety of activities.
Back in 2013, a female orangutan named Cici missed her chance at true freedom when her release was postponed. Cici is now 24 years old and a resident of Kaja Island, where she has lived since 26 November 2018.
A beautiful morning greeted the Post-Release Monitoring (PRM) team, who were busy carrying out routine camp cleaning tasks. Unexpectedly, a guest appeared on the cable of the room's ceiling, moving quietly, and reluctantly from his comfortable place.
Can you remember the orangutans we released into the Kehje Sewen Forest in May? Amongst them are Andreas, Riana, and Leann. All coming from the Samboja Lestari Rehabilitation Centre, they have now returned to their true home in the forest.
