EARTH DAY 2024: PLANET VS PLASTICS
Every year on April 22, we celebrate Earth Day to honour the planet that is home to us all.
The Malay Blue-flycatcher (Cyornis turcosus) is a small bird measuring 13 cm with feathers predominantly dark-blue color. This bird has a soft chirp but is quite melodious. When he feels threatened, he will make a fairly loud warning sound.
This bird is quite often observed in the vicinity of the Nles Mamse camp. It is indeed easy to find near rivers with low altitudes. They are distributed in the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and Borneo.
Several times, this bird was observed making nests around our camp. Some of our teams have also seen this bird breed well. It is evident from its nests that are not only inhabited by mother birds, but also some Malay blue-flycatcher cubs.
In addition to the Malay blue-flycatcher, several other species of birds also often appear near our camp with their signature chirps. It's as if competing with each other to be the best singer of Kehje Sewen forest.
Nature does have its own music and we won't necessarily get the same music anywhere else. So, let's preserve this forest so that nature does not lose its diverse "music".
